Blogoversary Giveaway!

Wow! It's hard to believe that it's only been a year that I've been blogging. So many of you seem like old time friends that I've known forever, and it's only been in the past year that I've met you. Hooray for blogging! Hooray for new friends! This blog has been a blessing to me beyond my wildest dreams. Hubby had been bugging me to start a blog for 2 years before I started this one, and I'm so glad he did. I feel honored to read every single comment that's left here and feel like I owe you all a thousand thanks for your support and encouraging words as I wander along my creative path.

So to celebrate my blogoversary, I've got some goodies to give away! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post answering the following question by 10PM ET on January 9. I'll announce the winners on January 10.

What would you like to see change/improve in your stamping life in 2008?

I'll pick three random winners from all the comments I receive. Each winner will receive one of the January 10 releases from Verve Visual. The first winner will receive the Wild Thing set used on today's card. The second winner will receive the Seeing Stars Set and the third winner will receive the Heart to Heart set. I'll be showing you peeks of the other two sets later this week. Check out the Verve blog for more sneak peeks. Winners must have a mailing address in the US or Canada and cannot be a member of the Verve Visual Design Team.

So today's card highlights my favorite set from the new release and uses this week's Mojo Monday Sketch. Is it okay for me to have favorites? :) Wild Thing is totally my personality, and since Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday and hubby's birthday is the day after V-Day, I needed something flirty and fun to make some cards for him. This clear stamp set has swirly hearts and flirty sentiments that you'll love.

So all that said, maybe I should answer the question myself. During 2008 I would really like to see an improvement in my shading/coloring skills. I have never taken an art class, (not even in high school), so I'm completely at a loss when people talk about the "light source" and perspective. I just do what feels right, but it never looks like what I think it should. I would really like to be able to achieve some greater depth in my shading. I watched Sherrie's video tutorial using her copics, and I can't wait to try out some of these new tips. Maybe if I really work on it this year, I can become a better colorer.

About Today's Card...
I started this card by randomly stamping the solid swirly heart in Pretty in Pink and the solid small heart in Purely Pomegranate to make a background pattern on my Pretty in Pink card stock. I then ran the cardstock through the Cuttlebug with the D'Vine Swirls embossing folder and wrapped some May Arts satin ribbon around the side before matting on a Basic Black card base. I then cut and embossed two rectangle shapes with my Rectangle Nestabilities and stamped the heart frame stamp in Purely Pomegranate. Next I stamped the solid swirl stamp in Pretty in Pink inside the frame. They're a perfect fit and since the stamps are clear, they're so easy to line up. Next I stamped the Wild Thing You Make My Heart Sing sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black. I then decided I wanted the heart to "pop" a little bit more so I stamped another solid swirl in Pretty in Pink, cut out and layered with a pop dot inside the solid heart frame. To finish off, I added some pink rhinestone bling to the white panel and the ribbon strip.

Oh happy blogaversary!! I've so enjoyed reading your blog these past few months. You always manage to inspire.

For 2008, I'd like to stamp on a regular basis and find ways to incorporate it into projects other than cards and scrapbooks. I only have so many people to send cards to!

Happy Blogaversary! That set looks AWESOME so far! Great card.

In 2008 I want to stamp more for fun. I'm not on any design teams or anything, but I don't have much time to stamp, and found myself constantly making things because I HAD to. No more!!!

WOW! I love this card. It is fabulous.
In 2008 I would like to begin stamping more. I would love to get published and I would love to be selected for a design team.
I have been stamping for many years and was once a Stampin' UP Demo but I stopped several years ago and I have not been in any shape to stamp for nearly three years due to back troubles. Finally giving in and thinking about having surgery to correct the herniated disc. But I am so ready to devote time to STAMPING again. I have created a new blog and also am working on a dedicated craft space in my home.

Well since I am quite new to stamping I would really like to feel the freedom to just stamp and not be so terribly concerned about making a mistake.
Thank You.

I wish I had more occassions to paper craft in general. I try to squeeze it in here and there and the housework suffers and my DH makes me feel like I shouldn't craft at all. Then he goes and surprises me with a cricut expression. SOmeone is sending mixed signals...LOL.I wish my space was more organized so that when I could get a chance I wouldn't spend most of the time clearing a spot to do it :)

Happy New Year and Congrats on your Blogoversary!!!! I would love to see me create more this year. I tend to leave things to the last minute and I don't get projects done. Thanks for the chance to win.

Thank you, Julee for blessing us with your amazing & inspiring talent and for designing such unique & 'Must-Have' stamp sets!
This year, I would like to better organize my stamping room and I resolve to use more of my designer paper stash, instead of harding it!

Happy new year and congrats on your first Blogaversary! I have so much I want to do, so the one thing I am working on this year is time management! I am a big procrastinator!!! Thanks for all your inspiration and keep up the good work this year! Beatrice

My hope this year is to have more CREATING time...not just the time to make a card, but "playing" and coming up with something wonderful. I love the process, but get too caught up in my own to-do list. Thanks for making me think about this!

Happy anniversary Julee. It seems like I've read you forever, so I must have found you when you were just a newbie to blogging. I love to read your blog every day. Your cards are amazing. You're a very talented lady! Okay, onto business, I would like to increase the quality of my work. Simple, eh?

Michelle Adams said...

I need to try some new techniques and I need to do more "involved" projects...I tend to pick an easy layout and stay with it for far too long. I guess I'm a lazy stamper! LOL!
Thanks for the chance!

I would like to be completely organized and stay focused! Thanks for all the inspiration and great artwork!

Happy New Year Julee! First off, I would like to say, I love visting your blog....you are such a great inspiration. I think what I am going to do this year, is try to visit more blogs. There are so many great talents that I would love to learn from. I have only been doing this a year and feel there is so much more I can learn and want to know.

Happy New Year!

I'd like to have more confidence when stamping. I get so nervous when trying to come up with an idea that I end up not creating anything at all.
Also, I need to start using what I have instead of buying more stamps, ribbons, punches, papers and any other "hot" item out there.

Those are my small goals for the new year.

I want to incorporate more stamping in my scrapbooking. Recently I put a large majority of my stamps out on shelves so I could see them and know what I have and have found that I use them more often. Yea for the new year. Always in incentive to change things and make new goals.

To become more organized and to know what supplies I have as I tend to buy things and forget about them.
Also to learn to color better, I just bought some OMS and Prisma's need to get better with them.
Also help create better and learn to chose colors and papers better

Thanks for sharing your creations with us via your blog!
My goal for this year would be to establish a monthly stamping gathering for my deaf friends and teach them a new technique each month. I need more deaf stamping buddies as I am the only deaf stamper here!

Happy New Year! I must say: you make beautiful cards!

I want my stamping to improve. I'm just getting started stamping and making cards so mine are fairly simple. I want to try to make cards with a little more oemph to them. I also want to learn how to use masks and stamp sceneries. So as you can see I have a lot to learn this coming year!

I'm wanting to do more of the challenges on SCS. Good to have to get out of your comfort zone and be stretched a bit. Also wanting to use sketches posted by yourself and others.

Hi Julee. Happy New Year to you and your hubby! I've truly enjoyed seeing your blog progress from the beginning to now. I love reading your funny stories and your cards are the bomb!! My plan for this year is to start submitting my cards to magazines and stamp companies. I would love to be published and to be on a design team. What a great giveaway! Thanks

Happy New Year and my answer is to be more creative, spend more time making cards than finding inspiration. Also I want to try new techniques, I am a beginner making cards and I love everything I see but sometimes I don't have all the materials or I don't have time.
Anyway, keeping fingers crossed .
God bless you

Hi Julee, Congratulations on your !st year anniversary. I've enjoyed your creativity and it has inspired me when I haven't been able to come up with an idea on my own. My goal is to try and find an outlet to sell my cards and to try an use up some of my stamping stuff instead of hoarding it. I'm running out of places to put it. LOL Thanks for sharing your talent. I have been thinking about this lately. I really want to find time to do more stamping and cardmaking. (not to mention scrapping) I have a particular love for cardmaking right now. I also want to experiment and push myself to think out of the box for techniques and design.
Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Gorgeous work. Hmm, for 2008 I'd like to work on not using cards that I don't love. In other words, keep creating until I get it right!

Great cards!!!

I think I'd like to be a more organized stamper. I pile stuff up all around me and before I know it, I can't find a thing!

Happy 2008!
I have been thinking alot about what I want to accomplish in my stamping life this year and there are two things that stand out the most. I want to improve my skills as a stamper overall (color choices, design, etc.) which will hopefully lead me to having something worth blogging for. I've been tossing around the idea of blogging (because I enjoy everybody elses so much) but don't feel, as of yet, that I have anything blog worthy. I'm looking forward to achieving both of these goals. Woo Hoo!!

Anonymous said...

Happy New Year! Wow...time to make some goals which would be a good thing. I would love to be more consistent with my stamping, working harder to make regular time to stamp. I am a hit-and-often miss stamper so I don't think my skills really improve. I'm pretty good at copying other people's work but I want to find/develop my own style and I know that will only come with time and effort. Congratulations on your anniversary!

Happy Blogoversary! I love your card -- and now I have that song in my head! :)

My stamping goal for this year is to go out of my comfort zone and try different styles and techniques. I see so many gorgeous projects on blogs and at SCS, and I think "I could do that!" -- so now I'm gonna do that!

Thanks for your sharing your talent and for giving us a chance to win! :)

Now that my craft room is getting a wee bit of attention, I am hoping I will be inspired to use it more often, my main goal is to post more of my creations and to research seriously the idea of designing my own line of stamps.

Wow, aren't you the generous stamper! Thanks for the oppertunity!

For me for 2008, I would love to be more on top of my clutter, I hate to clean up and I know I need to, so I pla on gettin better organized and cleaning as I go! Also, I would love to be published and or on a design team, so I am trying to not be fearful of rejection!

Thanks for the oppertunity to win some rubber!

Your card really makes me want to dust off my Cuttlebug! I dunno why I never think to use it anymore!
To answer your question, the thing I would like to change (or improve) is that I would like to be published. I have always dreamed of being recognized for something I love doing, esp. stamping.
Hopefully I will see you at the next SWISS...I forgot to sign up in time last Oct.
